“So excited to finally share that I have been working on a @lclaurenconrad maternity line with @kohls! I had so much fun creating a collection that would make soon-to-be mamas feel their best (and I know because I stole all the samples as soon as I could get my hands on them). It’s available in select stores and online June 7th,” she captioned the image donning a blue LC Lauren Conrad Maternity dress.
The Hills alum, 31 — who’s expecting a baby boy with husband William Tell — spoke to PEOPLE about her new collection.
“By the time it came down to it and we were putting it together and merchandising it all, I had some pretty strong opinions about silhouettes,” she shared. “We definitely wanted to include a lot of dresses, mostly because at the time this was coming out, I basically lived in dresses – they were the most comfortable for me and were the easiest fit-wise.
The Laguna Beach alum has been working most of the year on the new line.
“We started right after I announced, so the beginning of this year, and then we spent the following several months developing the line,” she said. “It was actually a pretty short timeline for us because we had to do everything from inspiration and vibes to developing it.
What are some of her maternity must-haves?
“I think for me, it’s dresses and flowy tops. Those are my go-tos. I personally like softer, stretchier fabrics for every day, and some kind of sweeter sundresses. With the dresses, we did two of them — one of them is off the shoulder and a jersey-type dress, which I really like,” she shared.
She added: “Then we did a couple that were sweeter and they did that cold shoulder because I felt like you still want to dress sweetly and show off a little bit. Shoulders are a pretty easy part of your body to show off when you’re trying to dress around some other things, so I felt like that was a relevant trend, and it was a good one to go after in this line. It was one that I was looking to wear.”
Is there anything she’s looking forward to wearing post-pregnancy?
“I guess I miss my waist. That’s the only thing. I’m fine with everything else,” she admitted. “I’m excited to wear high-waisted shorts and jeans again and more separates. I’ve been living in dresses. I’ve already started doing a little bit of shopping for my post-dressing. But then I also didn’t even consider, which was so silly, but the wardrobe when you’re nursing is a little different too so it’s just an excuse really to shop just for button-downs and V-necks.”
The mom-to-be recently celebrated her baby shower with family and friends.
“Oh, it was great. It was so nice of them. [My] friends and my mom and mother-in-law got together. It was very sweet of them, and it was a beautiful day,” she said.
Is she feeling ready for her son on-the-way?
“I’m just about there,” LC said. “I think we’re ready, but I feel pretty good about where we’re at… I think the most exciting thing is just to meet your tiny person that you’ve been growing for so long. Up until now, they’re kind of a mystery to you, so I think we’re just really excited to meet our new family member.”
