Mom-to-be Mindy Kaling debuted her barely-there baby bump at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour to promote her popular Hulu series, The Mindy Project, in Los Angeles, Calif., on Thursday (July 27).
The funnylady – who remained mum on the identity of the baby’s father – opened up about the comedy’s final season.
“Marriage was a big [goal] for Mindy and now finally has it and what’s fun about this season is showing the reality of marriage and what lived up to expectations and what didn’t — and then frankly getting disillusioned with it over the course of the season,” Kaling, 38, told the crowd.
The actress “is not telling anyone, not even close friends, who the father is,” a source recently said, adding that she is not dating anyone at the moment.
Another source said that the pregnancy was “an unexpected surprise” for Kaling, who is set to star in the upcoming films A Wrinkle in Time and Ocean’s Eight.
The mom-to-be has written about motherhood in her second memoir Why Not Me?
“I think I’ve decided that unlike everything else in my life, I’m going to be fast and loose about kids,” she writes. “I’m going to not actively plan, but if it happens, it would happen. I’m not cavalier about who I would have a kid with. But the thing I ask every parent that I really admire, the one comment they all have is that they wish they had kids earlier.”
The Office alum lost her mother Swati to cancer on the same day Fox picked up The Mindy Project in 2012.
