Everyone loves a fun children’s birthday party.
But in Hollywood, the kids get more than just hot dogs and homemade cupcakes. From
$100,000 extravagant affairs when Suri Cruise turned two, to themed and catered events like Tori Spelling‘s five children, here’s your invitation into the birthday bashes of Tinseltown’s tots.
- Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri:
When Top Gun star Tom Cruise and Dawson’s Creek alum Katie Holmes were still married, the A-listers spent a reported $100,000 on their daughter’s second birthday.
The theme was butterflies, and the lavish cake had an excessive $5,000 price tag alone. Catering cost the famous parents $45,000, and the sweets didn’t end with the cake. Reportedly, $230 was doled out for cupcakes from LA’s Sprinkles bakery as well.
Fast forward a few years where we spotted the mini fashionista celebrating her fifth birthday with a lavish tea party alongside her famous parents at their Beverly Hills mansion. Wearing a pink dress and turquoise shades, the birthday girl sat at the head of the table, surrounded by siblings Bella, then 18, and Connor, then 16, and other guests.
Holmes talked about the party plans a few weeks prior to the lavish event. “This is my favorite day of the year,” the actress said. “So we’re gonna have a little tea party, and I like to girl it up.”
Rumor has it that Tom splurged on his then-5-year-old. “Tom decided to add $5 million — in honor of her milestone birthday — to Suri’s trust fund,” a family insider said. “She already has several million in the fund.”
- Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s 5 kids:
Held in the backyard of the Spelling-McDermott Los Angeles home, Stella’s third birthday party included a huge bouncy castle, lots of inflatables, a themed chill-out area, Hello Kitty characters, a pampering station and face painting were all part of the birthday extravaganza.
Stella was also treated to a Hello Kitty birthday cake which was actually bigger than the birthday girl herself! Famous guests included The Guncles, Denise Richards and Ali Landry. The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star was tweeting throughout the party, documenting events at the posh birthday bash.
- Birdie Silverstein:
Cougar Town star Busy Philipps sat down with Celebrity Baby Scoop and talked about celebrating her daughter Birdie’s third birthday.
“We’re doing a giant renovation on the exterior of our home,” the actress explained. “Part of it is adding a big, flat front yard that will be hedged in and will – hopefully – be beautiful. I’ve told my contractors that it has to be done by her birthday because I’ve promised her a beautiful outdoor party.”
The Dawson’s Creek alum, 38, went on to say that it would be a Tangled-theme birthday bash held in the backyard of their Los Angeles home.
“She loves the movie Tangled and we read the books from the movie – and she wants lanterns,” said the actress. “I think I’ll hang Chinese lanterns outside and I thought a fun activity for the kids would be getting white lanterns in China Town and all the kids could decorate them with glitter and paints. And of course she wants a Rapunzel cake so I’m going to make her the Rapunzel tower for her cake.”
- Julie Bowen’s twin sons John & Gus Phillips:
Sometimes, it’s not all glitz and glam for the kids of famous people.
Modern Family star Julie Bowen chose to be charitable when it came to throwing the first birthday party for her twins, now-8-year-old sons John and Gus.
Instead of a lavish affair, the Happy Gilmore star, 47, supported charity organization Baby2Baby, which supplies families in need with essential baby gear.
“Honestly, [the twins] have more than enough stuff and there are so many families in Los Angeles that don’t even have the bare necessities,” Julie said. “So if I can take two over-privileged kids’ birthdays and use it as an opportunity to get other kids the stuff they need, I’m overjoyed to do that.”
