Julia Stiles Speaks Out About Mom Shaming After She’s Criticized For The Way She Held Her Baby
Julia Stiles recently shared a post on Instagram of her and her newborn son, Strummer Newcomb. The post shows Stiles supporting her son with a front pack. She cleverly hides the baby’s face. Apparently, many experts in the field of parenting did not approve of the way the baby was being supported. Stiles’ Instagram post was inundated with mommy-shamers offering her advice.
Stiles responded to the mommy-shamers with a follow-up post on Instagram. Stiles captioned, “…Wow. I didn’t expect that. What was supposed to be a shout out of products I like, suddenly becomes an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother.”
It was brought to my attention that in the previous photo I am not holding my baby correctly. Wow, I didn't expect that. What was supposed to be a shout out of products I like, suddenly becomes an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother. That's the internet for you, the carnivorous plant from "Little Shop of Horrors". I was trying to keep much of my son's image private, including, I guess, his little feet. And it was just a photo taken at home, not how I normally carry him around. Thanks for the concern, anyway. Yes, Mothers, always read the safety instructions. But also, Instagrammers: instead of writing snarky comments about a 5 week old, try dancing around your living room to a Clash record. It's way more fun.
Knowing what to expect as an actress/celebrity, Stiles is not deterred by her public persona, she continues by posting, “That’s the internet for you, the carnivorous plant from “Little Shop of Horrors”.”
Stiles ends her post by reminding us that there are many fun things to do rather than troll the Internet and submit comments about famous people. “Instead of writing snarky comments about a five-week-old, try dancing around your living room to a Clash record. It’s way more fun.”
Stiles for the Win!
