The ocean and beach are Bethany Hamilton’s second home so it comes to no surprise the pro surfer hit the beach for some well-spent family time. Hamilton, 27, also resisting her biggest pregnancy craving and it’s not a food, it’s surfing. The seven-month pregnant athlete has given up her first love for the remainder of her pregnancy.
Hamilton announced her decision on her Instagram account that she would be taking a break from the waves. In the picture you see Hamilton at the beach close to the waterfront in her bikini leaning against her board, she wrote, “The hardest part of pregnancy for me is not surfing! I’m taking a lil break, but it’s soooo worth it! Grow baby grow.”
The surfer darling has had such a successful year and lots to look forward to as well. She recently shared the milestones from this past year along with what we can expect to see this coming year for Bethany and her family. She wrote about the highlights starting off saying, “What an awesome year! Here are a few of my highlights!!!”
She went on to say, “My family and I traveled international 6 times and in doing so, we wrapped the 4-year filming of my documentary @Unstoppablethefilm expecting to release summer/fall 2018.”
Then she followed up by writing, “and I was inducted into the hall of fame for surfing! But the most exciting moment of the year was realizing we are growing our family! God is good and we are so thankful for the good times and the growing times.”

Bethany lost her arm at 13 years old when she was attacked by a shark while surfing. The surfer didn’t allow the traumatic event to stop her from her passion and love for surfing. She returned to surfing just one month after the accident.
Bethany, later on, met her Christian youth minister husband Adam Dirks. They married in Hawaii in 2013. They welcomed their son Tobias, 2, on June 1, 2015.
Her ultimate sacrifice of hanging up the board, for now, will pay off when she welcomes her second surfer baby! We can’t wait to see her hitting the waves again soon.
