More and more people are turning to surrogacy including some of your favorite celebrities. Here are five celebrities that welcomed their babies into the world thanks to a surrogate.
FIVE CELEBRITIES THAT USED A SURROGATE
1. Jimmy Fallon
The Late Show host, 43, and his wife Nancy Juvonen, 50, struggled for years trying to conceive, a time in their lives that he described as “awful." Once the couple decided to try the surrogacy route they kept it between themselves until they welcomed their first daughter Winnie in 2013.
Jimmy opened up on their reasoning to keep it hush," We tried before, we told people and then it didn’t happen. And it’s just really depressing. It’s really hard on everybody. We said we’re not going to tell anybody. It’d be just more fun if it’s just private between me and my wife. And then we get to introduce her to everybody." The couple later welcomed their second daughter Frances.
2. Tyra Banks
The TV personality, 44, shared the joyous news in January 2016 York Banks Alsa, her miracle baby boy, was born via surrogate. The ex-model tried for two years prior undergoing fertility treatments that ultimately failed her.
Banks made a statement on behalf of herself and her baby daddy Erik Alsa, “He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy’s Erik mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us."
3. Jordana Brewster
The Fast and Furious actress, 37, welcomed both of her sons Rowan, 1, and Julian, 4, by using a surrogate. Brewster recalled that surrogacy was she and her husband Andrew’s only option.
She says, “For me it wasn’t a choice. I needed to use a surrogate." And she goes on about feeling left out from the other mothers when pregnancy is the topic of conversation, “I feel the loss of not having carried or having been able to carry. But luckily I keep my circle tight and close, so I never feel judged."
4. Lucy Liu
The ultra-private actress, 49, shared the special news back in August 2015 through her social media that she had a new special someone in her life, Rockwell Lloyd Liu, 2.
Since welcoming her son she has spoken about experiencing motherhood for the first time, “Every day is just a miracle and a dream because everything is so different every day."

We are in a climate right now where it’s so wonderful and needed to have women coming forward to break their silence; it is vital and important for female equality. Period. A lot of the stories are horrific and need to be brought to light. This story, about my husband, Carter Oosterhouse, on the other hand, is now taking it too far and boundaries are being crossed. When you are in a CONSENSUAL RELATIONSHIP, then you need to take responsibility for engaging in that and not play victim. IF a relationship does not work out the way you want it to, then sorry, but that is the risk you take when getting intimate with another person. There are plenty of relationships I wish I could go back and make different choices about, but it was on me to decide. We need to take responsibility and learn from our mistakes and choices. Women are powerful and we need to be reminded of the strength and power we hold and learn ways to take care of ourselves so we don’t find ourselves saying yes when we really need to say no. The article is very damaging and cruel to one of the most kindest, loving, non-aggressive men I have the privilege of knowing and I am so sorry for these salacious words being thrown around, they are extremely hurtful. This type of reporting needs to stop, it’s so damaging for personal lives and careers and just not fair. Enough is enough, this is a plea to the writers, outlets and media…More due diligence needs to be done before crafting headlines and stories. Have discernment when you tell a story and please consider the source and story before just printing anything to get readers and viewers. #lovethesetwo
Amy, 41, and her husband Carter Oosterhouse, 41, welcomed their daughter Flora, 1, thanks to a very special woman. The couple thanked her with immense indebtedness on their social media. Smart, who had difficulties with conceiving naturally for years, said of her surrogate, “After years of fertility struggles I give thanks, today to our kind, loving surrogate for carrying her."
