When both of your parents are professional ballroom dancers the dancing genes must run in your blood. Maks Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd’s son Shai may only be 1-year old but it looks like he already has the dancing bug.
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy! 🍰 🎁 🎂 🍾 🎊 🎉 🎇 @petamurgatroyd and I cant believe it’s been a year already and would like to ask you to stop growing so fast! May you always be healthy, happy and curious! Now please get off the phone so we can tell you this! 🤣 #HardestWorkingBabyInTheRoom #HappyBirthdayShuShu
Maks Chmerkovskiy, 38, showed his son some dance moves and shared the dance session with his Instagram followers. In a video, the Dancing with the Stars gent posed shirtless holding Shai and rocking out to techno music. The proud papa was rocking his son to the rhythm of the beat while Shai giggled and smiled at one point Maks twirled his 1-year old around.
Maks captioned the video, “Sometimes all you wanna do is Duf-Duf it out!! Shout out to the days of the Tunnel, Limelight, SoundFactory and Bungalow 8.”
Peta went to her social media platform posting a Mother and Son dance video of herself and Shai but took it down a couple of notches. The 31-years old New Zealand born dancer put on a Boyz II Men ballad to start, showing “Shu Shu” as the mum calls her son, some slow song dance moves but changes the mix up in the middle to the 1956 Frankie Lymon hit ‘Why Do Fools Fall in Love.’
The dancing duo just celebrated their boy’s first birthday earlier in the month. Murgatroyd posted a throwback picture of the day her little man was born wishing Shai a Happy 1st Birthday, “Happy 1st Birthday my sweet Shai Aleksander,” she wrote.
And the Mirror Ball champ posted a video for his son’s big day wishing he would not only stop growing so fast but also get off his toy phone but in all seriousness said, “May you always be healthy, happy and curious!”
The parents said of the day their son was born, “This is, without a doubt, the best thing that has ever happened to us!”
Looks like Shai is ready to dance!
