Anna Faris and Jimmy Kimmel know what it’s like to be faced with a child that battles health issues. The two not only live a parallel life making others laugh, they also are parents to children that were born facing life threating health matters.
These two funny faces of Hollywood joined together along with Jimmy Kimmel’s wife Molly McNearney on Anna’s podcast Unqualified to voice the importance of better pediatric and maternal health care.
Anna Faris, the 41-year-old actress gave birth to Jack, her now 5-year-old son, two months premature. She opened up about the scary ordeal on her podcast saying, “When Jack was born two months early, it came as a huge shock. And suddenly, your world completely shifts.”
Anna who shares her son with ex Chris Pratt went on to speak about the nurses and doctors that helped them navigate through the taxing time, “The doctors and nurses that helped us and surrounded us were so unbelievably supportive that it inspired Chris and me to get involved in GAPPS.” The Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth (GAPPS) is on a mission to decrease the burden of preterm birth and stillbirths.
The late-night host and his 39-year old wife Molly went on to talk about the status of their 9-month-old son Billy’s heart condition. Kimmel, 50, has used his late night platform since his son’s birth to advocate for fair pediatric healthcare for all Americans that have children of their own that are facing health challenges like he and his wife.
McNearney went on to deliver great news about Billy, “Billy’s great, he had his second surgery and he’ll have one more when he’s older. It’s tough. But kids are so resilient-he had open heart surgery on a Monday and we were home on Friday.”
Faris went on to reveal, “Jack had a few surgeries-he had a few hernia surgeries, he’s had a few eye surgeries and he had a little heart issue as well.”
Anna went on the graciously thank Jimmy and Molly for speaking on the podcast and opening up about Billy’s heart issue, “It’s been incredibly moving, I really appreciate how vocal you’ve been.”
Wishing Billy and Jack lots of health and love!
