The Wait is Over. The Royal Baby has Arrived and It’s a Boy! Now, What’s His Name?
Coverage has ended…
The palace tweeted Monday morning, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101 hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
Details have emerged that Kate, 36, was taken by a car before 6 am this morning at St Mary’s Hospital located in Paddington, London. Kate was omitted to the private Lindo Wing where she gave birth and will remain until being discharged.
It appears the birth went without any complications. Kate’s first birth to George was a total of 10-and-a-half hours once being admitted, and Charlotte was in two-and-a-half hours.
The palace tradition is to officially announce any Royal Baby by placing an easel in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. The tradition dates back to 1837 as long as Buckingham Palace has been the official residence. The easel will remain for only 24 hours after which the notice will be sent to the Privy Council Office to be kept on record.
