Joanna Gaines is adjusting to being a mother of five nicely. The Fixer Upper star and her hubby Chip Gaines, 43, welcomed their fifth child, a boy, over the weekend.
The new mama shared a pic with her newest addition who is dressed in a blue onesie snuggling up against his mama’s chest. “Cuddle Bug," she captioned the photo.
On Saturday, Joanna posted the first pics of her son, a series of shots from the hospital. In the first of the four pictures, you see Joanna gazing down at her son as he sleeps. In the other pictures from the series, you see proud new papa Chip at his wife’s side and a family shot of her four other children meeting their new sibling for the first time.
The 40-year-old Magnolia Home founder wrote alongside the post, “Our baby boy, Crew Gaines, is here and we couldn’t be more in love," she captioned the post. “He made an unexpected (and speedy) entrance into the world two and a half weeks early — which is fitting given he was a sweet surprise from day one. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. We are so grateful."
Chip and Joanna Gaines broke tradition when choosing a moniker for their youngest son. Fans assumed the pair would go with a name starting with a ‘D’ as they had in the past, naming their two older sons, Duke, 9, and Drake, 13. But the Fixer Upper couple surprised their following and went with the name Crew.
The name “Crew” is a fairly new name that’s actually just 23 years old. It didn’t make its first appearance until 1995 when it made the Social Security extended list with just six boys that year.
The name is gaining momentum and stands at number 712, with 339 boys given the moniker last year. With gaining popularity and the help of celebrities like Joanna and Chip we are sure to see a surge in the name in the upcoming years.
