Serena Williams Hasn’t Been Apart From Her 10-Month Old Daughter Alexis Olympia For a Single Night
The tennis star tweeted on Wednesday, July 18 revealing, “319 days since I gave birth to this amazing baby @OlympiaOhanian I’ve spent 319 of those days with her. I’m so fortunate.”
Williams, 36, posted a photo alongside the tweet of her daughter sleeping peacefully on her chest while on an airplane.
Now back in full mommy mode, the tennis legend has a lot to be grateful for. Just a week earlier, the 23-time Grand Slam champ was playing in the Wimbledon ladies single finals in England.
Serena was defeated by Angelique Kerber but as disappointing as her loss was for her she said in an interview it’s just the beginning. “It was such an amazing tournament for me. I was really hoping to get this far. It’s obviously disappointing, but I can’t be disappointed. I have so much to look forward to. I’m literally just getting started.”
Serena became emotional when she admitted she dedicated her match to all the mommy’s out there. “I was playing for you today,” she said. “And I tried. Williams later tweeted on July 16 writing a touching sentiment, “These past 2 weeks was a sound for all moms stay home and working you can do it you really can! I’m not any better or diff than any of you all. Your support has meant so much to me. Let’s keep making noise everyday in everything we do. #roadtoUSOpen.”
Even though Serena’s baby girl has been by her side every step of the way Williams has had to sacrifice her time with her daughter due to her grueling training.
The tennis champ recently tweeted she missed one of Alexis’ big milestones writing, “She took her first steps… I was training and missed it.” The sports star admitted she “cried” when she learned of the news.
