Bode Miller’s wife Morgan shared a heartbreaking photo today of their daughter’st last moments before she passed away. MSN shared about this photo and the story behind it. Their 19-month-old daughter, Emeline “Emmy” Miller, died two months ago after drowning in the neighbor’s pool. Her death has served as a reminder to everyone to watch children around water because you never know what could happen.
In this photo, Morgan Miller, a pro beach volleyball player, is holding her little girl while they gave her oxygen right before she passed away. Another little boy Levi passed away from drowning the same day as Emmy. In this post, Morgan sends out a tribute to him as well. It turns out that drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death for children ages one to four years old.
Her post says, “I wish I could have one more day to hold you, but until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love. I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains.”
When her daughter passed away, Morgan was at the neighbor’s house talking to them. She lost sight of her little girl for just a moment, but by the time she got outside it was too late and she was already floating in the pool. Morgan did CPR as the neighbor called 911, but they just didn’t make it out there in time and Emmy passed away that day. At first, they were told there was a chance she would make it, but that didn’t end up being the case.
Morgan Miller admits to feeling a lot of grief from that day. She just continues to be more aware of her surroundings. Morgan and Bode are actually expecting their third child together.
Speaking with Today, Morgan Miller shared how she wishes there was a way to make that day different. Since she can’t, she is doing what she can to help parents keep from ending up in a similar situation. Morgan says that she hopes and prays that it gets easier to deal with her grief. Emmy just died a few short months ago. Showing this photo today had to take a lot of nerve, but could also help her with the healing process.
