Richard Gere is Going to be a Dad at 69: Wife Alejandra Silva Confirms Pregnancy
Richard Gere proves age is just a number. The actor is newly married to his wife Alejandra Silva and now the newlyweds have another reason to celebrate, they will be welcoming their first child together soon.
Rumors and speculation that Silva was expecting have been swirling since August. The publicist put all of those rumors to rest on Sunday confirming that she is in fact expecting. It seems like the couple wanted to wait to reveal the news until no other but the Dalai Lama to bless their baby on the way.
The 35-year-old mother-to-be took to her social media via Instagram to share a picture with the Dalai Lama and her hubby Gere by her side. “A very special moment just a few minutes ago…Getting blessings for our precious to come," she captioned the post.
The two were in Rotterdam in the Netherlands meeting up with the Dalai Lama. Gere has been a longtime worshiper of Buddhism. His wife went on to write jokingly, “We couldn’t announce it before telling HH Dalai Lama."
Gere and Silva have known each other for over a decade before the two became romantic and began dating in 2014. The two married in a secret ceremony in early April and celebrated their nuptials in May with family and friends in New York City.
An insider at the time said of the duo, “They’re so comfortable with each other, have fun together and are looking forward to their future together."
The Pretty Woman actor is already a father to his son Homer, 18 who he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell while Silva is a mother to her son Albert whom she had with ex-husband Govind Friedland.
Silva spoke about her relationship with her actor hubby to Hola magazine admitting prior to her relationship with Gere she was lost, “I was a little lost, without light, and knowing him gave meaning to my life," she said. “It was feeling that someone was reaching out and showing me my true path."
