Real Housewives of Orange County alum Meghan King Edmonds has built up the courage to leave her three children for some much-needed one on one time with retired baseball hubby Jim Edmonds, 48.
Meghan revealed this is the couple’s first getaway since welcoming their three kiddos Aspen, 23 months, and 4-month old twin boys Hayes and Hart. The reality star admitted in a blog post that she’s taking a vacation “because our marriage needs it."
The 34-year-old TV personality wrote an honest and candid post revealing, “we’ve become complacent in our lives and have taken each other for granted." Meghan went on to reveal this is she and Jim’s first vacation since before their eldest child Aspen was born well over two years ago. “When I think about it, it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long – we’ll always have more time to do what we want. But life is short and we are seizing the moment!" Edmonds wrote.
Like a lot of marriages, the mom of three admits that her marriage has taken a back seat to raising her children and the foundation of her marriage is suffering.
Meghan continued, “Our marriage needs it. We’ve had three babies in under two years. We’re building a house, we’ve sold and moved homes numerous times, we’ve quit jobs and started new ones. We are constant fixtures in our marriage that are often ignored and we need shining and buffing. We need US back… and the sad part is that we never even realized “we" were missing."
Meghan King Edmonds admitted she is “anxious" about leaving her three kids behind in California but is looking forward to a romantic vacation with just she and her hubby. “Most of all I’m looking forward to hanging out with my husband and not worrying about when the babies need to eat next or who has gas or why one hasn’t pooped."
Edmonds realizes that not everyone is able to pick up and fly to Mexico for some R&R. She suggested a couple savvy options to her fans that can still benefit you and your spouse that desperately need some alone time but can’t afford a vacation. Meghan suggests, “a staycation at a local hotel or a very special date like a picnic in the park without cell phones."
Edmonds ended her blog post by encouraging all the fellow mamas out there to “nourish yourself in whatever way you need. Whatever you can do, just do it, your marriage and former self will thank you a thousand times over.”
