Bode Miller and Wife Morgan Welcome Son 4 Months After the Tragic Loss of Their Daughter Emeline
Bode Miller and Morgan Miller are parents to a baby boy. The couple lost their 19-month-old daughter Emeline Grier to a swimming pool accident nearly four months ago. Since the devastating accident Bode, 40, and Morgan, 31, has been mourning the death of their daughter. Bode and Meghan now have a new life to rejoice in their first glimmer of hope since their daughter’s death.
The Miller’s confirmed to PEOPLE exclusively that their baby boy was born on October 5th at 1:34 p.m. This is the couple’s third child together and Bode’s fifth. They share their 3-year-old son Nash Skan together while Bode is a father to his son Samuel, 5, and daughter Neesyn, 10, from two prior relationships. Megan was five months along in her pregnancy with her son when the tragic accident occurred with their daughter.
Bode and Meghan have yet to share with their fans the name of their newborn son. The couple’s midwife Lindsey Meehlis revealed that Meghan gave birth to her son at home in a birthing pool, the same way she welcomed Emeline two years prior.
Meehlis spoke to Today, “Exactly one month before Emmy’s second birthday… the sun rose and they knew this day would be different. An overwhelming feeling of joy started to fill a valley of deep grief and sadness."
“Morgan’s fingers grasped onto their son, who filled such empty arms," she continued. “While nothing will ever replace the feeling of aching arms to hold Emmy again, this baby provided something new this day: joy, inspiration and hope."
The Millers revealed in April they were expecting their third child via Instagram. Just two months later on June 9th, Emeline drowned in a friend swimming pool in the Coto de Caza neighborhood of Orange County, California. It is believed Emmy slipped through a back door and fell into the pool. Bode was not present at the time of the drowning but Morgan was just inside the friends home. Morgan went outside to find her daughter in the pool after realizing she had gone missing.
In August Morgan shared a picture of she and her daughter and wrote a heartfelt message to her baby girl wishing she could just hold Emeline one more time, “I wish I could have one more day to hold you, but until that day comes, continue to work through me and give me the strength to bring awareness, my love. I told you as I held you in this moment that you could still change the world, you could still move mountains."
