Rachel McAdams is basking in her new role as a mother. The Notebook actress welcomed her first child, a son, with boyfriend Jaime Linden. McAdams who works hard to keep her personal life personal welcomed her baby boy a few months back has finally has opened up in an interview with The Sunday Times about being a first-time mom.
“It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, hands down. People say your life is not your own anymore, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person,” the 40-year-old Mean Girls actress admits.
McAdams also talks to The Times about how she didn’t become a mother until her late thirties but she says she has no regrets about waiting. “I waited a long time for motherhood. It’s just how it happened. And I didn’t want to do it before it was the right time."
McAdams main focus right now is her son and being the best mother. The Game Night actress hopes to keep her son out of the public eye so he has as normal of a childhood as possible.
She said, “I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t," she told the outlet. “But I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them."
The actress is learning to go with the flow when it comes to motherhood which she has discovered can be chaotic at times. McAdams even poked fun at herself that she barely was able to pull herself together for the interview.
“I have clothes on and that’s a good thing," she said. “I don’t even know what I’m wearing today. The shoes are held together with glue. Isn’t that sad? I need to get a life."
It was reported in April that McAdams and Linden welcomed their son but the couple never confirmed it. The pair has yet to disclose their son’s name.
